Tablet Configuration (recommended)

To optimize your Lifesize Room Controller experience, we recommend the following configuration of your tablet prior to regular use.

Enable Kiosk Mode

Configuring your tablet for kiosk mode is recommended to limit user behavior that can potentially interfere with the availability and operation of your connected room system. When kiosk mode is enabled, your tablet will only allow users to access the Lifesize Room Controller app.

Guided Access (Apple iPad)

To enable kiosk mode, also known as Guided Access, on your Apple iPad:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility.
  2. Turn on Guided Access.
Note: You may optionally set a Guided Access passcode for additional security.
  3. Exit Settings.
  4. Launch the Lifesize Room Controller app.
  5. Triple-click the Home button.

To end Guided Access, triple-click the Home button and enter the passcode (if required).

Screen Pinning (Android tablet)

To enable kiosk mode, also known as screen pinning, on your Android tablet:

  1. Open Settings, then tap the Security menu option, or equivalent.
  2. Then, depending on your device, you may need to tap a secondary menu option, such as Advanced or Other Settings.
  3. Turn on Screen Pinning or Pin Windows.

When screen pinning is on, you’ll see an option to ask for your PIN, pattern, or password before unpinning.

To pin the Lifesize Room Controller app screen:

  1. Launch the Lifesize Room Controller app.
  2. Swipe up to the middle of the tablet screen to show recently used apps. Depending on your device, you may need to perform a different action, such as tapping the Recents button.
  3. At the top of the Lifesize Room Controller app image, tap the app icon.
  4. Tap to pin the app.

To unpin the Lifesize Room Controller app screen, perform one of the following actions (depending on how your tablet navigation is configured):

  • Gesture navigation: Swipe up and hold
  • 2-button navigation: Touch and hold Back Backand Home  Home
  • 3-button navigation: Touch and hold Back Back and Overview  Overview

If your tablet is configured to require a PIN, pattern, or password for access, you will need to enter it to unpin the screen.

Note:
Depending on the iOS or Android version of your tablet, you may be required to re-enable kiosk mode when the tablet is restarted.

Turn Off Tablet Auto-Lock

Turning off the auto-lock feature of your tablet is recommended to ensure users are able to access the Room Controller app without requiring a PIN, passcode, or biometric identification (ex. fingerprint or facial recognition).

Turn off auto-lock (Apple iPad)

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Display & Brightness.
  3. Tap Auto-Lock.
  4. Tap Never.
